TRAINING GROUP PLACEMENT

The placement of each individual swimmer is made by the coaching staff (with the Head Coach having the final say) and is in the best interest of the swimmer and their long-term development. Time and effort is spent ensuring that each athlete is in the training level most beneficial to their success as a person and an athlete. Here are the criterions used for placement:

  • Willingness to make the commitment expected of the swimmer at that training level.
  • Meet attendance expectations.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and consistently train at the standard expected of swimmers at that level.
  • Has mastered stroke, training, and skills expected of the level and maintains the right attitude and approach to the sport.
  • Exhibits the maturity and responsibility typical of swimmers in that level.
  • Fits the age and skill parameters for that level.

Swimmers will be rated amongst those that are trying out and those currently on the team. All swimmers are expected to attend any/all championship meets they qualify for. They must show respect to other swimmers, coaches, officials, and parents on RONIN AQUATICS and other teams. They need to understand that their attitude affects and reflects their performance , the team, their families, and themselves. Consistent attendance is expected to ensure success in the immediate and the future.

PRACTICE ATTENDANCE

Attendance requirements and suggestions for each training group are included in the training group descriptions. All swimmers should be on deck, sitting in the bleachers with their caps and bathing suits on 15 minutes prior to scheduled practice time.

A swimmer's promotion and improvement is contingent on commitment; ability and age are taken into consideration for promotion as well. Although we try to keep swimmers grouped by age, eventually a swimmer's lack of attendance and dedication to the TEAM will catch up with him/her in many ways. Swimmers who are committed and attend practice as outlined for their group will find themselves rewarded in their advancement through the training groups, their development as a swimmer, and improvement in their times. Swimmers must earn promotion. Swimmers will not be promoted if they have not demonstrated they are ready for advancement.

DRY LAND SESSIONS

RONIN AQUATICS will be offering dry land sessions to benefit our swimmers. Dry land sessions will consist of exercises and drills to promote strength, power, and flexibility without adding bulk or body mass. Sessions will be created to work individual body parts (shoulder, back, legs, and arms), full body circuits, and core strengthening. Every dry land session will conclude with shoulder and stretching exercises. On the days dry land and swim practices are scheduled together, swimmers are expected to attend both. Choosing to do dry land and not swim will not be permitted without the prior approval of the coach.
